AFSCME is committed to servicing public safety personnel around the country. Currently, AFSCME represents over 100,000 public safety personnel including police, corrections, fire and EMS workers. James E. Howell, Assistant Director of Law Enforcement, is a retired police officer from the City of New Haven, CT and is working to expand AFSCME's sworn law enforcement ranks.
